I've always loved Huskies and im trying to get one, any good advice or help? What is some good advice for getting a husky without spending a major amount of money?
try shelter or rescue. www.petfinder.com
Huskies often end up in shelters.. they are pretty.. but not easy to live with. People get tired of the shedding, energy levels, constant escape attempts and their independant nature. What is some good advice for getting a husky without spending a major amount of money?
Do not think about getting a husky until and unless you have spent the appropriate time and money on a fence for your huskies yard.
They are persistant and adept escape artists.
Four of my six Siberians were rescues, who came into rescue because they were out wandering.
Finished fence height -Six foot fence buried 12-18 inches in cement is the minimum.
Go to a local shelter or find a husky rescue.
But huskies are not cheap or low maintenance dogs to own. If you don't have the extra money to buy one, think about all the food costs (huskies are large dogs who also eat a lot), vet care, grooming (huskies have very thick underoats and need lots of grooming), toys, dog bed, leash, collar, food bowls, bones, etc.
well if you're going to be tight with money then maybe a husky is not the way to go, grooming.... lots and lots of grooming, now if you're not going to do it yourself... consider how much it will cost to get it groomed and how often it will need to be groomed... im guessing monthly, im not sure, never owned one. they're big dogs and need lots of food, lots of energy. But all and all pretty good dogs, my friend had one and she was a stunner absolutely beautiful.

Try your local shelter/rescue.
There are plenty of Sibes that are left for shelters to care for, simply because owners didn't do research further than ';omg, da pups r soooo coootttteee!!! n thay luk lyk wulvs! lets git un!';.
A ';major amount of money'; being what?
Because if you can't afford initial cost of a dog; please don't get a dog and subject it to a life without proper care.

Your ';cheap'; siberian, in 8-11 years is going to not be so ';cheap'; with all the hip repair surgeries and eye problems.
You need to save up your money and get a siberian from a reputable breeder. They usually charge $650-$1,000, a thousand being show quality.
A back yard breeder usually charges $150-$500. STAY AWAY!!!
Here is what you need to find a good breeder. Read ALL info!

Make sure this is the right breed for you. They require a **** load of work. Not your ordinary type of dog.
You can always RESCUE!!!
