Help, can i get some advice?

i have a dilemna, how do you get a jar of jam open without a strong hunky man around.Help, can i get some advice?
grab a jam knife, use the back edge (not the serrated edge) and whack the edge of the lid hard enough to make a slight dent...do it around the entire lid and then try to open it again. should come off real easy.Help, can i get some advice?
In my house (all women) we frequently run into the same issue! Years ago we invested in a few rubber pads that you place over the top of the jar, and presto--The jar can easily be opened. Since I doubt you have one of these since you're posting this here, try wrapping a thick rubber band around the top of the jar and then gripping it. If you have any rubber shelf liners that are not in use, those will work too. As will pretty much any flexible rubber that is large enough to fit around/over the jars lid.

Or you could soak the jar in hot water, but I find that works too slowly.
Tap the edge of the lid firmly but gently against your counter and then use a slightly damp towel (for grip) and twist. If that doesn't work - repeat the steps again. Also sometimes running warm to hot water around the edge of the lid helps. (Of course having a hunky man around is nicest!!).

Good ';twisting';!!
You can gently tap the edge of the lid with a knife around the jar or you can stick the jar under some hot running water and

it should open the lid for you without too much trouble.
Take out a butter knife and hit in 3 or 4 timers on the edge. Hold the knife tightly so it doesn't slip out of your hand. If that doesn't work, turn the faucet on really really hot and put the jar under it for a minute. Dont use your bare hands after its been under the water, grab a rag, and it should open :}
