So I'm an african-american female who's about to get a weave for the 1st time, any advice of how to maintain?

watch america's next top model the makeover episode from any season and they usually tell the girls who get weaves how to maintain them....So I'm an african-american female who's about to get a weave for the 1st time, any advice of how to maintain?
I have a weave and this is what I do:

Before I go to bed, I comb out the tangles. Then I make one big braid and pin it up with the big bobby pins. Then I wear a silk scarf over my hair. Always wear a silk scarf or bonnet so it won't get frizzy or tangled up.

I usually moisturize my real hair with S-Curl and use a leave in conditioner on the weave part. I wash my hair once a week (shampoo/conditioner or sometimes just conditioner). I flat iron it so it matches my real relaxed hair.

It's like taking care of your own hair.So I'm an african-american female who's about to get a weave for the 1st time, any advice of how to maintain?
Well i have a sis im african american by the way who always gets weave but i think the first time it will be painful also you can leave them in for at least a month if you take care of them.
Ask your beautician.

A profesional will have the best advice, and you can always ask a differ one for a 2nd opinion.
only apply shampoo 2 the roots when you rinse the hair the shampoo will then clense the hair enough with out matting it together and when conditioning apply to ends +midlengths not roots
Depends on if its glued or sewed in. If it's glued avoid oily hair products
