I need fishing tips to catch crappie and bass. I use all kind of baits and none get hit. I need some advice.?

I fish in Central Valley, CA..(Hensley Lake, Pine Flat Lake, SJ River, Kings River)

It sucks and very frustrating seeing other ppl catch fish. i suck.I need fishing tips to catch crappie and bass. I use all kind of baits and none get hit. I need some advice.?
I am a Crappie fisher and this is the way I catch them:

The best time to catch Crappie is in the spring when they go to shallow water to spawn. Look for trees and brush in the water. A good indication is the trunk of a tree reaching out of the water on the bank. Fish around logs lying in the water. Crappie are very picky. You have to go to them....they won't come to you. Some people use a jig but if you want to catch Crappie use a MINNOW. Drift along, quietly, dropping the minnow down among the tree tops and brush. IF Crappie are there, they will hit the minnow immediately. You have to vary the depth also. They will not come UP or DOWN t bite bait. When they bite do NOT jerk the pole up. When the bobber goes under just pull up gently but rapidly to get them out of the brush. Notice their mouth......it is VERY tender, a translucent membrane that tears easily. That is he reason for not jerking like you would a bream.

Second, when not in spawning season, fish the deeper water. If in a lake use a fish finder and find the original river channel. Look for junk under the water such as brush and, again, drift along. When fishing for any fish, you have to go to them. They will NOT come to you. This is especially so with Crappie. Next.......patience.

Fishing is for enjoying and when I go, I like to catch fish but just being on the water and drifting along enjoying the view and relaxing is wonderful for your mental health. My son is a bass fisherman and he frantically casts as fast as he can to cover all the nooks. NOT for me. I, at times, will lay my pole down, drift and just relax.

Good luck and good fishing. PopsI need fishing tips to catch crappie and bass. I use all kind of baits and none get hit. I need some advice.?
for the bass any bass will bite a rubber worm. i have found that if you use a weightless rubber worm the bass love the way it moves. just put it on a regular bass hook and let it sink to a desirable depth. then just reel it in really slow. i always catch bass on it and it will also catch lunker crappie...but for the crappie i always just use a regular tube jig...the easiest thing to use for crappie is a nightcrawler on a bobber though, if you can't catch any crappie on a nightcrawler then there cant even be any crappie in the lake....for the bass in the river though i suggest minnows or a tube jig, i went out to the kankakee river in illinois a couple of days ago with a tube jig and caught at least 20 smallmouth in one spot...so go out there using those things and have fun!
I know this sounds simplistic, but just watch what other people that are catching fish on and how they are fishing it, and where the fish are located that they are catching- mimic their baits and actions and you will catch fish also.

The best lures known to mankind for crappie in my area are live shiners and the little small tube jigs fished tight line style Your time is coming, just hang in there.
Hello from Lake McClure area just north of you.

There are a ton of baits and lures that catch bass on all of our lakes here are some examples of things ive found sucessful:

1. White 1/2 oz spinnerbait with a colorado blade fished on a baitcaster reel and 6'5'; pole...trailer hook acceptable

2. Chartruse Speed Trap Crank Bait

3. Jigs...melon craw or brown craw

4. drop shoting with clear/spotted soft plastics

5. green tubes

email if you have questions
Maybe its not the bait or lure as much as it is the equipment you are using. Your reels have different retrieval speeds, try slowing it down or speeding it up some. Depending on your gear ratio of the reel, it will make a big difference on you retreival speed which could make the lure not look natural to the fish. Just food for thought.

Good luck
