How do I get in shape and STAY in shape? Please don't give me a cliche answer but i could really use advice.

I need to be active but ive never really played sports. Im a 16 yr old girl. im not fat but i know im unhealthy and have a poor diet. its a constant cycle for me. i get motivated to get healthy for a good while..i eat healthily, workout, and all that..then my weakness for junk food and tv get me again. maybe im just a lazy teen, but i need help cause i dont want to grow up and gain a lot of weight. give me motivation, or even a full-out schedule to go by! that would be soo cool because i could def. stick by a schedule that tells me what to eat, when to workout etc. so esp. if you know what you're talking about it would be great to give me something like that to go by. PLEASE help me! i dont want to be obese like a lot of americans are : /How do I get in shape and STAY in shape? Please don't give me a cliche answer but i could really use advice.
Eat a 1500 calorie a day diet full of healthy foods. Below is an example of my menu at www.thebestlife.com. I belong to the website and the founder is Bob Greene Oprah's trainer. I am 16 also and a little lazy at times, about 5 months ago I started eating healthy and working out. I don't own a scale so I do not how much I have lost but, I get compliments on how great I look since I have lost a little bit of weight though I wasn't really fat to begin with, I just wanted a healthier lifestyle which would be your best approach if you are looking for longterm results and a steady diet and exercise program.

Breakfast-Best Life Cheerios Mix with strawberries (or other fruit of your choice), almonds and nonfat milk

Lunch-Oat Bran Bagel Topped with Cream Cheese and Peanut Butter with a Side of Carrots and a Kiwi

Dinner-Chicken breast with cousous; tossed salad with dressing

Snack 1-Large glass (1 1/4 cup) skim or nonfat milk with raisins

Snack 2-Calcium-enriched orange juice and 1/4 cup of almonds

Ease your way into exercise and do what you like to do. Four times a week do cardio for 30 mins (running, jump rope, dancing, swimming, etc) and then 2 times a week do 30 mins of strength training (like using and lifting free weights/dumbells, or doing pilates or yoga).

Allow yourself a treat every so often when you get cravings that way you indulge with a little something to keep you satisfied instead of ignoring what you want and later on bingeing on a bunch of food. Also make sure you are using good judgement on portion control.

Just get out there and be active whether its taking a bike ride or talking a leisurely walk, go at your own pace and if you need to ease into things and make them routine. Good luck!!How do I get in shape and STAY in shape? Please don't give me a cliche answer but i could really use advice.
16 is a good age to learn healthy habits that last a life time. Being healthy is all about balance.

You are old enough to build you own healthy lifestyle.

Make exercise a habit. Simple walking every day cost nothing but a good pair of shoes every six months.

Learn to eat five fruits and veggies every day. It will help to cut out some of the junk food. Eat carrots instead of chips, simple ideas like that.

Learn to limit your meals to the size of both of your hands cupped together, that is the size of your stomach.

Promise your self to never drink another soft drink again. Your body will love you for it. If you learn to drink water, you won't age so quickly. In other words, you will not wrinkle like most people. Also, stay out of the sun unless you use sunblock. Beautiful skin is envied more than money.

Develop your own healthy lifestyle. It will give you confidence that no one can take from you.
Honestly the best thing you can do to lose weight after eating a whole bunch of **** is to detox. By detoxing I mean fasting.

Fasts don't have to last that long, and you could start it off by only eating raw fruits and vegetables for the first 3 days of it. Switch to only juices/real fruit smoothies, and then soon enough just water.

When you stop craving the junk food is when you should really stop fasting. But you can break it whenever.
eat only 1200

calories a day.

and it works,because

my whole family has

been doing that
I have lost a total of 120 pounds so far.

I lost 105 pounds in my first 6 months. Here is how I did it.

1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.

2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).

3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!
