the program. I've heard it can be extremely competitive and all students are accepted by a lottery. I have no experience in the dental field. ANY suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!Thinking of trying to get into a dental hygene program. Anyone have any experience or advice to get into....?
I know of a good place to go for that, West Liberty State College in WV. They have both an Associates and a Bachelors in D.H.(I dated a guy in that program). Something he did was: take some of the bachelors classes before you get into the Dental Hygiene program, and really focus on getting good grades in them. That will show that you are focused about school, and may have better luck getting into the program. My ex took one year of the other classes, then did the DH associates for 2 years, and took classes for one more year to get his bachelors. Having the bachelors degree would make you more marketable, plus you could get into teaching at a later time(if you really wanted to).
Something else that some people do is get a Dental Assistant certificate at a community college. Not only could a couple of the classes transfer into the Dental Hygiene program, but they can also get you experience in working in the dental field.
Good Luck
