i went through a abusive relationship before, it lasted for years. mostly because i was afraid to leave him,,,no were to go and etc. besides the mental aspects of it , he probably makes her feel like no one else would want her and etc. like that also. its a terrible cycle to be in and she is the only one that can break it. she needs to leave him asap. theres a better way to live and life can and is better. good luck sweetie.My mom wants to get a divorce with my stepdad. She is in a bad situation but she will choose her own pace to divorce your stepdad. It may be that she doesn't want this marriage to fail. It may be that she hopes he will stop doing these things and it may be that she hopes he loves her. She doesn't have a timetable worked out in her mind for him to redeem himself and turn the marriage around. That's a problem because this bad behavior can go on forever. She's frightened of being alone and all the financial problems and emotional hurt of feeling lonely.


Can she see a counselor to get some support and advice? They needn't be expensive; many charge on a sliding scale so you pay less if you make less money or have less money. You could suggest that and give her some encouragement to seek that kind of help.
Go to a woman's shelter and they can help her there!
she should get out and you to as soon as possible .
