Advice on getting rid of bamboo in my backyard?

I hear bamboo is dangerous for children. How do I go about thoroughly getting rid of it?Advice on getting rid of bamboo in my backyard?
You can offer them on online places like craigslist or a freecycle or a local plant swap in your area. Free Bamboo, you dig!~Advice on getting rid of bamboo in my backyard?
See if you can borrow a Giant Panda from a sympathetic Nieghbour. Or even a Zoo. These oversized Raccoons are the only creature, (other than Chuck Norris)

with teeth strong enough to chew bamboo up, and they actually like to eat the stuff, often as a precursor to their legendary lovemaking sessions. But be sure to only borrow one Bear, because if you get two of them, and you turn your back, for even 5 minutes, in very little time, your whole neighbourhood can get seriously over run with Pandas. People fail to appreciate the fact that one breeding pair of Pandas can have sixteen thousand descendants in one year, and you might not have enough Bamboo to support them all. And then they might turn nasty, and carnivorous, and these cuddly looking House Pandas, are quite capable of disarming, and devouring two full grown Grizzlys, without even breaking a sweat. But one shoulld be manageable enough, to get rid of your Bamboo. When the Bamboo has all gone, the Panda will continue on his natural migration route, following the wild Bamboo herds all the way back to China.

Problem sorted, with no nasty Chemicals, which can damage the enviroment. Panda droppings are quite innofensive, once you get used to the Stench, and are a particularly effective fertilizer, especially if you are growing Bamboo, as it is already full of Bamboo seeds. Be careful though, beacause Bamboo can be dangerous, esp for Children.

Hope this has helped.
I don't think bamboo is dangerous, the chinese eat the shoots in stir frys all the time.

Unless you cut it you don't get sharp points. I doubt there is a natural way to remove it successfully. Digging it out by hand would be the only way and that could go on forever.

The most successful way is to spray with Roundup or cut branches and paint with round up this has to be done regularly until all shoot have been killed (because bamboo spreads by 'Runners' every root grows, when cut). If you are careful with Roundup and follow all the instructions on the bottle, you shouldn't have any problems later and it is non residual in the soil.

Many natural remedies sound great but when you get to hard to kill plants they don't work well.
Why is bamboo dangerous for children?

Since herbicide is also dangerous for children you'll have to painstakingly dig up all the roots by hand so that they don't grow again.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll stand by digging as a natural remedy for bamboo removal.
Bamboo is very hard to get rid of. You'll have to dig and dig. Either that or possibly a tree and brush killer will get rid of it.
Put an ad out offering free bamboo to anyone willing to dig some.
