Freecycle commonly has free computers being given away, but you rarely see a desktop machine that is worth toying with, let along a laptop. Sometimes churches have fund raisers to purchase laptops, but that's really all I can think of. Best of luck in finding her one, and good luck to here in her upcoming college.

Free lap top...my grand daughter needs one for college, any decent advice of where to get one ..?
My grand daughter will be attending a christian college near Jackson, Michigan. We can't afford and neither can her mom to buy her a lap top. Does anyone know of an organization that could help her?
