If you have taken A.P. classes, can I get your advice please?


I am a current junior in high school with many honors classes %26amp; AP US History...





I would like to take AP English III, but I don't believe I can handle it, It's beyond me just about right now.





So, how much would I be ruining my chances of a state university such as FSU, or UF if I take English Honors III instead of AP English III?

the th fact that you are taking any ap classes show you are willing to challenge yourself, if doing another is too much dont do it. remember you still have to take the tests for all of them at the end of the year...If you have taken A.P. classes, can I get your advice please?
AP English III is for Junior year. If you pass the exam with a 3, you get freshmen composition 1 credit of college. If you pass with a 4 or 5, you get credit for comp 1 and comp 2 of college. AP Language and Composition was really a big help in improving my writing. You will learn to appreciate that class if your teacher teaches it well. I am a senior in a Florida high school right now.
English doesn't become AP until English IV, not English III.
Your not ruining anything if you take honors IF you make A's.





I did that and i got into all the big schools.
If u take too many ap classes, u'll end up getting a few B's, unless ur a genius.
I've been told that you don't get to take any classes at UF for your first two years unless you're an honors student.





Personally, I was an honors student at UF, and I went in with 21 credits from AP classes. I became a sophomore my second semester. But if you don't have a lot of credits, you might get stuck taking a lot of classes at community colleges. UF had very few lower-level classes (1000-level.)





I thought AP English was pretty easy, but, then, I'm a very language-oriented person. I think the key to writing essays (especially in high school) is to come to a logical conclusion. It doesn't have to be particularly clever or even right. Just pick a topic, find some information that supports your theory, be clear, and then mention in your conclusion that you made a point in there somewhere.





The clarity is important. It's not so much what point you make; it's that you made a point at all. It's more the mechanics of the thing than any particular art or brilliance.





Really. It's just high-school English. Start your projects early, take plenty of notes, make for DANG sure you get your references right (follow those footnote guidelines to the letter), and go over your paper with a rubric in hand and make sure you check off everything you'll be graded on.





Don't make it harder than it has to be. If you have a brilliant insight, put it in. Your teacher will be surprised and pleased. But if you do a good, solid paper and make some kind of point, your teacher will be fine with that. You need to show that you can have a thought, expand on it, and come to some kind of conclusion.





You think that's art? Hardly. Take the honors class and work on your skills. You don't have to be a great writer. Just be a good one.





And for God's sake, go to UF. FSU is lame-o.
