Can i get free advice? I'm getting sued...?

I am getting sued by a collections company for a credit card debt that I never paid. I know, I should of paid it. I have a court date for oct 12. I need free advice, where can I get it? I live in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Please help with advice.Can i get free advice? I'm getting sued...?
If this is actually a collections agency and not the collection arm of the credit card company, then I agree with JP. Make an offer in compromise. They paid pennies on the Dollar for your debt so they are not as vested in full recovery.





That doesn't mean however, that they won't continue with the lawsuit therefore, even if they agree have the agreement reduced to writing and have your attorney review it.





If the credit card company collections department is actually the one suing, then you are SOL. They will most likely not entertain any such offer as they have all the cards.Can i get free advice? I'm getting sued...?

Free Advice? Remember, you only get what you pay for so it probably won't be very good. If I were you, I would get a lawyer.
Get a lawyer or pay the fine. If you cant pay it and you have more outstanding debt, file bankrupt.
offer to pay the prinical without the fees, they will probably take it.
Contact them and make them an offer to settle for something less than they're suing you for. Many times, they'll at least let you have some sort of payment plan so that you don't have to come up with it all at once. Keep in mind, however, that they're holding all the cards here and you don't have much to negotiate with. The worst thing you can do is to ignore it. They'll get a default judgment and then start garnishing your wages, or bank accounts.
